The sun shone once again for me at the Crown Hotel, in Bawtry on the outskirts of Doncaster. Despite our changeable weather, I seem to be blessed with gorgeous weather more often than not when I photograph weddings there!
Michelle and Andy had booked me to photograph their wedding reception at the Crown Hotel, however, before this I met up with Michelle and her bridesmaids at the couple’s home in Doncaster to photograph the preparations. There was such a great atmosphere and buzz around the place. Michelle in particular was so happy and giddy it was untrue! Her family and friends from over in Wales and travelled over to Doncaster for the wedding. I photographed the wedding service at the beautiful church in Cantley, just outside Doncaster. The happy couple then travelled onto the Crown Hotel in a beautiful horse drawn carriage.
Michelle and Andy had hired Bawtry Hall to have a small selection of group photos. After this, the three of us spent around 20 minutes together as I grabbed some candid photographs of the two of them, along with a small selection of formal shots – well as formal as I do anyway! When I am photographing a wedding, I like to take no more than 10-15 minutes on the group photos, and around 20-30 minutes with the couple themselves. This way, they can spend the vast majority of their wedding day with those close to them, rather than me! This also helps me capture the essence and storey of their day.
