Introducing {Freddie}

At 1:54pm on January 7th, baby Freddie Hammond said hello to this wonderful world that we live in!! Back in October 2009 I had the honour of photographing the stunning wedding of his parents, at Oulton Hall, Leeds – Today, I add just as much pleasure in photographing their very special new addition to the family!

Any tears that little Freddie cried soon dried when he received reassuring hugs from his proud mummy and daddy – on the odd occasion that that failed, a big gulp of milk certainly worked!!

I’ve chosen a few of my favourite photos below :-

How cute is Freddie!!! Fantastic photos once again Phil – just love the colours that you’ve managed to capture in the hallway – simply beautiful x

Family Portraits {Kerry & Family}

I’ve known Kerry for over a decade now – how time flys!  Back then, I had a full head of hair,and the most advanced camera that I had picked up was a disposable Kodak camera!  It was a pleasure to be asked to photograph Kerry’s family as a Christmas present for them. Jay and Enya (pictured below in the first 2 photographs) were 6 and 4 when I last met them – I had to stop myself from sounding like an old man and coming out with the stereotypical “My, havent you grown!”

The fun family portraits were taken in Cantley, near Doncaster, at Jay & Enya’s parents  home. The indoor photos of the family were taken using  my Photo Booth,  whilst the outdoor shots were lit by Elinchrom Qaudras.

We all had a fantastic time during the shoot; hopefully these can be seen in the small selection of photos from the shoot below:-

Great family photo-shoot Phil!! Love your creativity, in particular the picture frame idea :)

9 months on! {Baby Dylan}

Baby Dylan recently past the grand old age of 9 months old and already he was having his 3rd photo shoot! For those who regularly read my photography blog, you’ll remember that Dylan had a bit of a foot fetish when he was young; that now seems to have developed into a radiator fetish! Now that he can crawl at the speed of Linford Cristie, the radiators need to be off; it’s a good job the -10C days of December are long gone!

In between grabbing the nearest radiator, I grabbed the photographs of the baby bell below!:-

The baby photos were taken on the Nikon D700 and 85mm G 1.4 using available light only.

A small selection of my personal favourites from Dylan’s 3rd baby portrait session can be found below:-

These are so gorgeous, thank you so much, you have captured all Dylan’s smiles, his serious faces! and his looks of mischief in one shoot!

Love {Charlotte & Jason}

Meet Charlotte & Jason – they’ve both just turned 21, they are both head over heels in love with one another and they’ve just moved into their very first home together!  It doesn’t get much better than that! Charlotte & Jason celebrated their birthdays by having a photo shoot with me, before heading into to town for a beer or 5!!

Charlotte is a die hard Doncaster Rovers fan, whilst Jason (for his sins!), is a Newcastle United fan! As a true show of affection, Charlotte even donned one of Jason’s Newcastle tops for part of the studio session – now that is love!

The photo shoot took place in Wiseton, just outside Bawtry, Doncaster, whilst the studio photos were taken in their new Doncaster home.

A small selection of my favourite photographs from the shoot can be seen below :-

Marie & Bryn {Married!}

The stunning Linden Hall in Northumberland was the venue for my final winter wedding of 2010. The wedding took place between Christmas and New Yea, when I had the pleasure of photographing Marie & Bryn’s big day. Linden Hall is situated north of Newcastle, just outside Jesmond. Although the happy couple live down in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, Bryn had proposed the previous year on a beautiful deserted beach in Northumberland. Having searched for the perfect venue nearby, they came across Linden Hall and fell in love with it. Having photographed there, I can now see why!

You couldn’t meet a nicer and more friendly couple than Marie and Bryn. Nothing was too much trouble for them. When I asked Marie if she minded if I photographed her in the snow, she jumped at the chance and put her wellies on! I just wish that I’d brought mine with me, as I had the most porous and cold shoes on that I could have picked! The shots that we got were more than worth it though! Marie & Bryn went out of their way to make me feel part of their big day. You only have to look at the wedding photos below to see just how much fun the couple (and their guests) had throughout the day.

For the photographers who read my blog, the wedding was photographed using just two prime lenses throughout the day; the new Nikon 35mm and 85mm f1.4s. Wedding photography in winter gives you the added pressure of photographing in diminishing light. You could simply pop a flash gun on top of your camera and get ‘ok-ish’ shots, or you can work for your money and seek out just the right quality of the ambient light. By using high ISOs and high apertures (low f stops), there is still  no reason to use flash. That is my honest opinion, although others may argue otherwise. Ultra high apertures allow light to flood into the camera’s sensor and also enables you to generate gorgeous out of focus ‘bokeh’ behind your subject.

Phil, the photos are out of this world. They are Fantastic. Thank you for travelling all the way to Northumberland to be part of our day. To be honest, half of the pictures which you took, I did not see you do. That is how discrete you are. Fantastic and thanks again. Marie & Bryn. xxxx
