Kelly & Terry {Engaged!}

I’ve known Kelly for a number of years now, and it was a real pleasure when she phoned me last year (or rather texted me!) and asked if I would photograph her upcoming wedding to her fiance Terry at the Crown Hotel in Bawtry. Their pre wedding engagement photo shoot took place just down the road from their they both live in Doncaster, Cusworth Hall – it’s almost becoming my second home now!

Despite being repeatedly bitten by nasty bugs through out the shoot, the resulting photographs were more than worth the itching that followed!! Fingers crossed, the bugs wont follow us across Doncaster to the Crown Hotel in a few weeks!

Gemma & Stevie {Engaged!}

In less than 2 months time, Gemma & Stevie tie the knot at Tankerlsey Manor. To say that they’re excited is an understatement, and understandably so! Before heading on their respective Hen & Stag dos, they called me up to arrange for their pre-wedding photo shoot. Gemma chose the location of Cusworth Hall, as this holds a special place in her heart – it’s where Stevie romantically proposed to her. He wasn’t looking forward to the shoot saying that he wasn’t photogenic and would feel like an idiot! I specifically chose places where members of the public (with the odd exception!) didn’t see us, enabling them to relax. By looking at the photos below, I don’t think he scrubs up to bad after all! Gemma is an absolute natural in front of the camera- she looks simply stunning.

Marie & Bryn {Engaged!}

It’s only a couple of weeks until Marie & Bryn’s big day on 27th December this month – I’m so looking forward to photographing it! The wedding ceremony and reception are taking place at the beautiful Linden Hall in Norhumberland. Their pre wedding engagement photo shoot took place a little closer to home, in the woodland near to Cusworth Hall in Doncaster, along with their adorable retrievers. The dogs are also making a special appearance up at Linden Hall for the wedding. I asked the couple what made them choose Linden Hall as the venue for their wedding, and I found out that that was where Bryn proposed to Marie – it’s good to see that romance isn’t dead after all!! I best do my drinking on Christmas Day, as a long drive up to Linden Hall on the 27th with a fuzzy head is a no go! Best get my snow tires ready!

How Cute??!! Isabelle & Macy

They say don’t work with kids or animals as they can be a nightmare – well 2 year old Isabelle and her 3 year old cousin Macy proved that not all sayings are true! They were an absolute pleasure to photograph. I actually photographed Isabelle when she was less than 24 hours old, and prior to that, photographed her parents, Nic & Dan, on their wedding day in Doncaster.

The girls are sooooo cute!! If they don’t become models and/or future heart breakers, I’ll eat my hat!

Family Portrait Photography in Doncaster {The Collingwoods}

I’ve known the Collingwoods for a number of years, and when I got a call from Rich asking me to photograph the family, I couldn’t wait! A mid autumn afternoon at Cusworth Hall near Doncaster provided the perfect setting. Beautiful woodland, rolling hills, a beautiful lake, and of course, the historical Hall itself provide numerous photographic opportunities. The family, (well parents!) weren’t keen on being photographed in public view, so I sought out a quiet shaed area, away from members of the public enjoying the park – with the exception of a couple of dog walkers, we succeeded!!

For the photographers who read my blog, the photos were captured on Nikon equipment, with the D3 and D700. I used the Elinchrom Quadra Ranger lighting set up for the family shots on the fallen tree trunk. The key light was around 3 metres away, fitted with a softbox, whilst 3 metres to the right and behind the family, a second Quadra light was fired, adding definition to the shots. I photos were taken on the Nikon 70-200 VRII. The photos near the (still standing!) tree, were captured with a 85mm 1.4 lens, with apertures of between 1.4 and 2.2, using ambient light alone. Mid afternoon sun can be very harsh at this time of year. If you find an area just out of the sun, shaded by trees in this instance, you can find soft beautiful light.

Doncaster Family Portrait Photographer {Vicky & Andy}

I had the honour of covering Vicky and Andy’s wedding back in 2007 at Ouston Hall, Doncaster. A year later, blond haired blue eyed baby Oliver arrived and I got some great photos of the family together. Vicky recently got in touch with me, to see if i could photograph the three of them, along with her sister’s family. The autumnal back drop of Cusworth Hall was the location for the family portrait session. Everyone had loads of fun, including young Oliver…except when he saw that the camera was focusing on him, and repeatedly scowled at me!. Some of my favourite photos from the family session are below:-

Doncaster Baby Portrait Photographer – {Harry}

They say don’t work with babies or animals. Well, I’d photograph baby Harry every week if i could! What a happy cool fella he is! He laughed, clapped, pulled funny faces, mimicked his daddy, and generally loved it!

I photographed Gemma and Ady’s wedding back in December 2008, and we’ve stayed in touch ever since. When they asked me to photograph their little bundle of fun; how could i resist! The portrait session took place at Cusworth Hall, just outside Doncaster. The place was really busy, so we found an old wooden bench out of the way – Harry certainly approved!

Doncaster Engagement Shoot { Jacqui & Craig }

I met up with Jacqui and Craig at historic Cusworth hall, just outside Doncaster. Jacqui in particular was very nervous about being photographed. She told me that she always looks awful in photos. I tried to put them both at ease, and we had a good laugh along the way! As we got chatting, Jacqui soon forgot that she was being photographed. She needn’t have worried, as she looks simply stunning – as you can see in the photos below! If the two of them look this good on a freezing cold grey January morning, then I can’t wait to see what they look like on a beautiful Spring day in April! There big day is only 8 weeks away, when I’ll be covering the big day at The Crown Hotel in Bawrty. Can’t wait!
